As of this writing, this theme was released only a few short days ago, which means that right now, the chances that you’ve seen this in use elsewhere are slim to none.

According to the author, he design this theme “to be used by tech-related blogs.” With its very clean looks and straightforward layout, I, on the other hand, see it as suitable to just about any professional application, not just tech (in fact, it being tech-specific I don’t get at all). Particularly if you’re looking for a very large, fixed-width design.

This theme’s layout dimensions are big — it’s certainly wider than a standard 1,024×768 browser screen; the smallest standard screen width that will display Techy People is 1,280 pixels.

The default distribution set up includes a cheesy header logo graphic that doesn’t do the design justice. Don’t get turned off when you see it; clearly, you’re supposed to replace that logo image with your own (it comes with a PSD file you can alter and use). For the demo screen capture, I followed the author’s instructions for fiddling with the PHP code to disable the header logo and enable the use of the good old text header… although not bad at all, I think you’ll get much better results with a good header image instead.

The list of theme features includes:

  • Fixed width
  • Widgets-ready
  • AdSense-ready
  • Logo or text header (logo.psd included)
  • Gravatar-ready
  • Image gallery-ready
